ST. ALBANS, ME — A 32-year-old man has been sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual contact involving a juvenile female.
Nicholas Estes pleaded guilty on Oct. 15 to unlawful sexual contact, a Class D felony.
He was sentenced to 180 days in jail with all but 50 days suspended and one year of probation.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a report of sexual assault on Nov. 3, 2024.
Detective Jeremy Leal was assigned to investigate the case and worked with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kennebec and Somerset Counties.
Based on evidence gathered during interviews with involved parties, Detective Leal obtained an arrest warrant for Estes.
Detective Leal arrested Estes on the warrant on Jan. 14.
As conditions of his probation, Estes must complete a sexual offender evaluation and undergo counseling and treatment.
He is prohibited from having contact with anyone under the age of 18 and must have no contact with the victim.
Estes is required to register as a Tier 1 Sex Offender on the Maine Sex Offender Registry.
