Man arrested on strangulation charge in Batavia

BATAVIA — A 66-year-old man was arrested Oct. 4 on a charge of criminal obstruction of breathing.

Robert L. Stanley, of Batavia, allegedly grabbed another person by the neck during an altercation at Austin Park.

He was issued an appearance ticket and released.

BATAVIA — A 49-year-old woman was arrested Oct. 6 on a charge of harassment in the second degree.

Kelly J. Mungo, of Batavia, allegedly struck another person during an altercation on East Main Street.

She was issued an appearance ticket and released.

BATAVIA — A 34-year-old man was arrested Oct. 5 on a bench warrant.

Michael J. Hilton, of Leroy, was wanted in connection with an incident in which he allegedly stole merchandise from 7-Eleven.

He was arraigned in CAP Court and released.

BATAVIA — A 37-year-old woman was arrested Oct. 4 on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Anmarie G. Maher, of Batavia, was arrested following a traffic stop on East Main Street.

During the arrest, her husband, Matthew J. Maher, allegedly threw a set of keys at a police officer.

He then allegedly resisted arrest when police attempted to take him into custody.

Both were issued appearance tickets and released.

BATAVIA — A 38-year-old man was arrested Oct. 2 on three arrest warrants.

Christopher A. Sewar, of Batavia, was wanted after failing to appear in court on three separate petit larceny arrests.

Sewar was arraigned in CAP Court and is due in Batavia City Court at a later date.

On Oct. 8, Sewar was arrested on a charge of trespass.

He allegedly was on the property of Dollar General after having previously been trespassed from the location.

He was issued an appearance ticket and released.

BATAVIA — A 36-year-old man was arrested Oct. 4 on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and appearing in public under the influence of narcotics.

Ryan M. Bobzin, of Byron, was arrested after police responded to a welfare check in the area of Washington Avenue and Dellinger Avenue.

Bobzin allegedly was under the influence of narcotics and found in possession of fentanyl.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in court Oct. 21.

BATAVIA — A 49-year-old woman was arrested Oct. 7 on four warrants.

Sabrena L. McGill, of Painted Post, was arraigned in Batavia City Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail.

She is due back in court Oct. 21.

BATAVIA — A 57-year-old man was arrested Oct. 8 on an arrest warrant.

Mark A. Taylor, of Batavia, was wanted in connection with an incident in which he was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Taylor was arraigned in CAP Court and is due in Batavia City Court at a later date.

BATAVIA — A 36-year-old man was arrested Oct. 9 on a warrant for false personation.

Eric S. Dawson-Leach, of Batavia, allegedly provided police with a fake name during an incident on East Avenue on Sept. 17.

He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and released.
