NEW SCOTLAND — State Police arrested Jeffrey C. Hyman, 60 of New Scotland for Unlawful Surveillance in the second degree, Eavesdropping, Possession of Eavesdropping Devices, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations on Sept. 28.
On Sept. 27 at about 9 a.m., troopers received a complaint that a victim in Guilderland discovered an unauthorized recording device in their vehicle.
The investigation determined that Hyman, who is known to the victim, reportedly used an eavesdropping device to monitor the victim without their knowledge or permission.
On Sept. 28 at about 9:16 a.m. during the course of the ongoing investigation, troopers observed Hyman operating a vehicle with a child under the age of 15 in it.
After dropping the child off at a New Scotland home, he left in his vehicle.
Hyman was followed and stopped on Eagle Court in New Scotland after troopers observed multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Hyman was arrested for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra’s Law) and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
While being taken into custody, Hyman was found to be in possession of additional eavesdropping devices.
Hyman was transported to SP Guilderland for processing where he recorded a 0.14% BAC.
He was arraigned on all charges at the New Scotland Town Court where he was released on his own recognizance.
