Sodus man charged with vehicular manslaughter in fatal motorcycle crash

SODUS — The State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday at approximately 7:40 p.m. on State Route 104 in the town of Sodus.

Preliminary investigation determined that a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck operated by Robert C. Meyers, age 41, of Webster, was traveling westbound on State Route 104 when it struck the rear of a motorcycle that had slowed to make a left turn into a residential community.

A 25-year-old male operated the motorcycle, was ejected, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Subsequent to a DWI investigation, Meyers was determined to be impaired.

He was charged with vehicular manslaughter in the second degree, a class D felony.

He was also charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, both unclassified misdemeanors.

The investigation remains ongoing.
