LEWISTON — Police are investigating two separate cases involving outgoing mail stolen from residents’ mailboxes where checks were subsequently cashed.
The Lewiston Police Department is asking residents to check their bank statements and ensure checks are being received and cashed by the proper recipient.
Anyone who discovers unauthorized check activity should call police immediately to begin an investigation.
Police are recommending that all outgoing mail be sent from postal boxes rather than left in mailboxes.
