LATHAM — State Police arrested a 21-year-old Saratoga Springs man after a stolen vehicle pursuit ended in a rollover crash on Sept. 6.
Eugene R. Shaw Jr. faces charges including criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, two counts of reckless endangerment in the second degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment of property and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.
Two juveniles, ages 12 and 15, were arrested Sept. 8 for criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree.
Troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle from Freeman Lane in Saratoga Springs at about 6:18 p.m. Sept. 6.
The allegedly stolen vehicle was located about 10 minutes later traveling southbound on Interstate 87 in Malta.
State Police and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop the vehicle, but Shaw failed to comply, resulting in a pursuit.
The pursuit was terminated due to public safety concerns just south of the Twin Bridges in Colonie.
Shaw exited at Exit 6 and lost control of the vehicle while attempting to turn left from the off-ramp onto Troy Schenectady Road.
The vehicle overturned multiple times and came to rest on the overpass above the northbound lanes of Interstate 87.
Shaw and two juvenile passengers fled on foot but were quickly taken into custody without incident.
All three individuals were taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.
Shaw was transported to State Police Latham for processing after his release from the hospital.
He was issued appearance tickets returnable to Colonie Town Court on Sept. 25 and released.
The two juveniles were processed at State Police Latham on Sept. 8 and released to their guardians with scheduled court appearances.
