JAMESTOWN — A 20-year-old man was arrested early Sept. 4 after giving police a false name and leading officers on a foot chase before discarding a loaded stolen handgun near an elementary school.

Officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon were patrolling near the 7-Eleven at 518 North Main Street at approximately 12:55 a.m. when they encountered Harlem B. Green, who had an active felony warrant from Jamestown City Court.

Green provided a false name to officers in an attempt to avoid arrest.

He then led officers on a foot pursuit lasting approximately 100 yards before being taken into custody.

Prior to his arrest, Green discarded a loaded .44 Magnum revolver near Samuel G. Love Elementary School.

Investigation revealed the loaded firearm was reported stolen in 2020 on Jamestown’s south side.

Green was transported to Jamestown City Jail without incident.

He is charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree, resisting arrest, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, in addition to the outstanding warrant.

Green is being held pending arraignment.
