JAMESTOWN — Officers working a Gun Involved Violence Elimination detail observed a red sedan operating without plates on Allen Street near Willard Street at 1:44 a.m. Aug. 31.
The vehicle failed to comply when officers attempted a traffic stop and fled at high speed, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Officers pursued the vehicle into the south county and to the Pennsylvania state line before terminating the chase after crossing state boundaries.
Pennsylvania State Police located the vehicle shortly after and continued the pursuit.
The chase concluded with assistance from Pennsylvania State Police, and the operator was taken into custody without further incident.
Police identified the driver as Frank A. Strohauer Jr., 25, of Jamestown.
Officers issued uniform traffic tickets to Strohauer for reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd, speed not reasonable and prudent, failed to keep right, failed to stop at stop sign, improper/no signal, inadequate/no lights, unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle, and operation of uninsured motor vehicle.
Strohauer was released to Pennsylvania State Police for out-of-state charges and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
Additional charges against Strohauer are pending.
