St. Albans police arrest 2 on drug trafficking charges after search warrant executed

ST. ALBANS — The St. Albans Police Department executed a search warrant Aug. 25 on a vehicle that had fled from police the previous day.

Jose Coiscou-Mercedes operated the vehicle, and the passenger was Brandy Perez.

The warrant search located several thousand dollars, a loaded handgun with no serial number, and approximately 1.765 pounds of cocaine/fentanyl mixture.

Jose Coiscou-Mercedes and Brandy Perez were placed under arrest Aug. 25, after being released from court on their initial charges.

They were subsequently re-transferred to the custody of the St. Albans Police Department.

Both suspects were charged with cocaine trafficking, fentanyl trafficking, two counts of firearm while committing a felony, and possession of unserialized/unfinished frame or receiver.

Jose Coiscou-Mercedes and Brandy Perez were initially held at Northwest Correctional State Correctional Center for lack of bail, $75,000.

On Aug. 26 at 1 p.m., Jose Coiscou-Mercedes and Brandy Perez were arraigned at the Franklin County Courthouse on the most recent criminal charges.

Both were issued various court-ordered conditions and $20,000 bail.
