PENN YAN — Edward F. Galvin III, 38, of Geneva, was arrested by Penn Yan Police following an investigation into a larceny complaint.
On Aug. 10, police were dispatched to a local municipal lot for the report of a vehicle that was broken into.
It was reported to police that an unknown suspect had rummaged through the victim’s car and stole property.
Later that day, police responded to a separate incident for a theft that occurred at a business.
Upon arrival, police engaged in a brief foot pursuit and apprehended the suspect, who was identified as Edward F. Galvin III.
During that arrest, Galvin was found to be in possession of the property that was reported from the earlier vehicle break-in.
Police later found CCTV footage showing Galvin at the scene going through the victim’s car.
Galvin was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny and criminal tampering in the third degree.
Galvin was processed and released on an appearance ticket to appear at the Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to answer to the charges.
