LIMA — Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of an Ontario County resident on felony charges following an investigation into a motor vehicle crash.

On Aug. 23 at approximately 2:17 p.m., Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Rochester Road in the Town of Lima for the report of a motor vehicle that had struck several mailboxes in the area and was last seen traveling southbound on Rochester Road.

Sheriff’s Deputy Cosmo Giunta was able to locate the vehicle in the area and contact was made with the male operator of the vehicle who initially lied about his identity.

Through the investigation, the operator was later identified as 44-year-old Shannon Masterson of Honeoye.

The Deputy also observed that Masterson was attempting to hide and conceal property from inside the vehicle.

Masterson was placed into custody without incident, and was found to be in possession of cocaine and buprenorphine (Suboxone), which he did not have a prescription to legally possess.

A records check revealed that Masterson was also driving on a suspended New York State Driver’s License.

Masterson was charged with felony tampering with physical evidence, misdemeanor criminal impersonation in the second degree, two counts of misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Masterson was transported and turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Masterson was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Caledonia Justice Riggi.

The judge remanded Masterson to the custody of the sheriff, due to his status as a parolee with the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
