HARTFORD — The Vermont State Police and the Hartford Police Department are investigating an incident that left one person dead and another injured early Thursday on Verna Court off VA Cutoff Road.
The investigation began around 3:50 a.m. when a 911 caller reported a disturbance at a residence in the neighborhood.
Responding Hartford police officers found one person deceased at the scene.
A second individual was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the case.
Police said preliminary information suggests the event was isolated and that there is no generalized threat to the community.
The Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Field Force Division and Victim Services Unit, together with Hartford Police, are conducting the investigation.
After crime scene processing, the deceased victim’s body will be taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Officials are withholding the names of the victims pending family notification and further investigation.
