NEWPORT — The “Glimpses of Wonder” initiative has expanded with two new murals on the pedestrian bridge leading to Gardner Park, showcasing diverse local talent.

Local artist Emily Schubert is completing a mural on the right side of the bridge that celebrates the Northeast Kingdom’s unique beauty. Her vibrant piece features native animals and nature scenes, connecting viewers to the region’s natural surroundings and wild spirit.

On the left side, high school student Shelby-Rae Perry is creating a playful and practical mural designed to guide visitors to the nearby skate park. The directional art piece demonstrates how creativity can serve a functional purpose while adding color and personality to public spaces.

The dual installation expands the “Glimpses of Wonder” project’s footprint and represents the initiative’s mission as a public art project for everyone, from established local artists to emerging young talents.

The project aims to enhance the community in both subtle and striking ways. Community members are invited to walk across the bridge to Gardner Park to experience the new artwork.
