CAIRO — New York State Police troopers arrested a 61-year-old woman on drug charges following a traffic stop Monday night.
Troopers from the Catskill barracks observed a 2016 Jeep traveling on Main Street in Cairo at approximately 11:13 p.m. in violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The driver and sole occupant was identified as Ellen C. Wade of Greenville.
During the investigation, troopers conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered approximately 22.43 grams of cocaine and glass pipes containing drug residue.
Wade was taken into custody without incident and transported to the State Police barracks in Catskill for processing.
She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, narcotic drug, a Class B felony.
Wade also faces charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and criminally using drug paraphernalia manufacture, a Class A misdemeanor.
She was additionally charged with violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Wade was arraigned in the Town of Greenville Court and released on her own recognizance.
She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Cairo Court on Monday, Aug. 26, at 1:00 p.m.
