BALLSTON SPA — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a minor Friday for attempted robbery in the 2nd degree and assault in the 2nd degree.
Both charges are class D felonies.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred Aug. 5 in the village of Ballston Spa.
The minor is accused of attempting to forcibly steal a deputy’s firearm from their holster while the deputy attempted to place them into a patrol vehicle.
The minor allegedly caused physical injury to a deputy while intentionally preventing the deputy from performing a lawful duty.
The deputy was in the course of performing an essential service at the time.
The minor is accused of kicking the deputy in the leg.
The minor was arraigned before the Honorable Heather Brondi in the Youth Part of the Saratoga County Court.
The minor was remanded to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Facility pending further proceedings.
