MILTON — A 58-year-old Pennsylvania man died Monday evening after his pickup truck left Interstate 89 and struck trees in the median.

Thomas Rehrig of Schuylkill Haven, Pa., was driving a 2021 Ram 3500 south on I-89 near mile marker 99 at approximately 7:10 p.m. when the vehicle departed the roadway, according to Vermont State Police.

The truck entered the median and struck multiple trees before coming to rest.

Rehrig was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the collision, police said.

Milton Fire Department and Milton Rescue Squad responded to render aid, but Rehrig had succumbed to his injuries before first responders arrived.

Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper McGowan at the Williston Barracks.
