FAYSTON — A 60-year-old Duxbury man died Monday morning after his pickup truck crossed the center line and struck a tree on North Fayston Road.
Shawn Keating was driving a 2023 GMC 3500 west on North Fayston Road near Abbey Road at approximately 11:55 a.m. when the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane and departed the roadway, according to Vermont State Police.
The truck entered the southbound shoulder and struck a tree before coming to rest.
Keating was not wearing a seat belt and became trapped in the vehicle following the collision.
The Waitsfield/Fayston Fire Department, Mad River Valley Ambulance Service, Moretown Fire Department, Waterbury Fire Department, Barre Town EMS, and UVM Medical Medivac responded to extract Keating from the vehicle.
Keating died from his injuries while being extricated.
The truck was totaled in the crash.
Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
