PENN YAN — A local man was arrested July 30 following a months-long investigation into drug possession.
William A. Hamilton Jr., 59, of Penn Yan, was taken into custody without incident.
The arrest stemmed from a Feb. 20 incident in which police were alerted to drugs in an unlocked cabinet in a common area of a residence Hamilton frequently used.
Officers located narcotic paraphernalia and a crystalline substance in the cabinet, which was seized for testing.
Lab results later confirmed the substance was methamphetamine.
Hamilton was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
He was released on a ticket to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
