ROXBURY — Officers responded to the area of 11 Winthrop St. at about 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, for a report of shots fired.
Officers were advised that a loud bang came from one of the bedrooms.
A protective sweep was conducted, and a shotgun shell casing was seen on a chair, as well as multiple casings on the floor.
A hole in the ceiling was seen directly above where the shell casings were found.
One of the residents admitted to officers that he had a shotgun inside his room.
District B-2 detectives were requested to respond to the scene, and the apartment was secured pending a search warrant.
The following day, a search warrant was executed, and a shotgun with five rounds was recovered from inside one of the bedrooms.
Otis McCall, 64, of Roxbury, was placed under arrest.
He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of ammunition without an FID card, intentional or reckless discharge of a firearm striking a dwelling or other building, and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.
