Woman critically injured in boat incident at Massena

MASSENA — New York State Police responded to the Massena intake boat launch on State Route 131 on Aug. 3 after receiving a report of an unconscious female on a boat at approximately 3:24 p.m.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim was inbound on a 1997 Sierra boat manufactured by Aeroglastics Baja Boat Co.

The female victim was unresponsive, with CPR in progress.

Upon arrival, the troopers began lifesaving measures, which were continued by personnel from Seaway Valley Ambulance.

The female victim was identified as Tracey L. Billhardt, a 29-year-old resident of Winthrop.

She was initially transported to Massena Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Upstate Medical Center, where she is currently in critical condition.

United States Customs and Border Protection assisted on the scene.
