COBLESKILL — State Police arrested a 41-year-old Cobleskill man July 28 on multiple charges including strangulation and assault following an investigation into a domestic incident.
Joshua Decker was taken into custody with assistance from the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant charging him with strangulation in the second degree, criminal mischief in the third degree, assault in the third degree, criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment and unauthorized use of a computer.
Troopers received a complaint at approximately 6:45 a.m. July 27 reporting a past assault in Cobleskill.
The investigation determined that during the early morning hours of July 26, Decker allegedly accessed the victim’s phone before striking and strangling the victim.
During the altercation, the victim attempted to flee, but Decker allegedly prevented them from doing so.
The victim was eventually able to leave and flag down a State Police member to report the assault.
A warrant was issued for Decker’s arrest by the Cobleskill Town Court after he left the area following the assault.
Decker was located July 28 by the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office in Cobleskill and transported to State Police Cobleskill for processing.
He was arraigned at the Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and remanded to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility.
