MONKTON — A Charlotte woman crashed into a tree after falling asleep while driving on Bristol Road on July 19.
Joanne Harrington, 65, was traveling south on Bristol Road near Monkton Road at approximately 2:11 p.m. when she fell asleep at the wheel, according to Vermont State Police.
Her 2007 Kia Rio left the southbound lane and struck a tree head-on before coming to rest upright.
Harrington was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.
Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
Harrington was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, which carries a $220 fine and two points.
The vehicle sustained front-end contact damage.
