Bath woman arrested on charges of providing false statement to police

BATH — A 27-year-old Bath woman was arrested Saturday afternoon on charges related to providing false information to police during an investigation.

Arya M. Dickson was taken into custody at 3:13 p.m. by an officer with the Village of Bath Police Department.

Dickson is charged with offering a false written instrument for filing in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and making a punishable false written statement, also a Class A misdemeanor.

Police said an officer was requested to assist with another agency’s investigation of an open case.

During the investigation, Dickson was interviewed and provided a sworn statement to the officer.

The officer suspected the statement contained false information and conducted a subsequent investigation.

Following the investigation, it was determined that Dickson had provided inaccurate information in the statement.

Dickson was released on an appearance ticket as the charges do not qualify for bail.

She is scheduled to appear in Bath Village Court at a later date.

Dickson is currently under the supervision of Steuben County Probation.
