OTISCO — New York State Police responded to a report of a possible drowning on Otisco Lake in the Town of Spafford at approximately 1:24 p.m. July 7.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Paul S. Bernet, 70, of Marietta, N.Y., was last observed in the water near his pontoon boat before submerging and failing to resurface.
The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team and Drone Unit responded to the scene and conducted coordinated search efforts.
Bernet was later located and recovered from the lake.
Agencies assisting at the scene included the Onondaga County Water Authority, Marcellus Ambulance, Skaneateles Fire Department, Camillus Police Department, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, and Amber Fire Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
