SHERBURNE — A 59-year-old Sherburne man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on State Highway 80, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office said.
Jeffery Maxson was walking westbound on State Highway 80 when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle at approximately 8:40 p.m. July 4, according to deputies.
The driver did not stop and continued east on State Highway 80.
Deputies were dispatched to the area July 5 for reports of an unresponsive man off the shoulder of the road.
Upon arrival, deputies found Maxson deceased.
Detectives used nearby security cameras to identify the vehicle as a black Ram 1500 pickup truck.
The vehicle was later located and seized for investigation.
