COLEBROOK — A 46-year-old Columbia man wanted on warrants was arrested July 3 after being on the run from probation and parole for approximately five years.

John Willis was taken into custody by Colebrook police after the U.S. Marshals Service tipped off the department that the wanted individual was possibly residing in the area.

A Colebrook officer observed Willis driving and followed him as he pulled into a residence and exited his vehicle.

Willis provided the officer with a fake name and date of birth when contacted, but the officer recognized him based on tattoos previously described by the marshals.

Willis was arrested on two warrants, one for violation of parole and another for failure to appear in Superior Court.

Police discovered Willis’ driver’s license was suspended and the registration for the vehicle he was operating was also suspended.

The vehicle was towed and Willis was transported to the Coos County Jail.

Willis is charged with disobeying an officer, driving after revocation/suspension and suspension of vehicle registration.

He was given a summons to appear for the new offenses but was held in detention on the active arrest warrants.
