2-car crash injures 1 in Cornwall

CORNWALL — The Town of Cornwall Police Department responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident with injuries on Route 32 in the area of Long Hill Road Extension on July 5 at approximately 5:08 a.m.

An investigation revealed that a 2012 Mazda 3 operated by Michael Grove Jr., 21, of Central Valley, N.Y., was traveling north on Route 32 when it struck the rear of a 1999 Toyota Camry that was also traveling north on Route 32.

The Toyota was operated by Robert Mccue Jr., 60, of Highland Mills.

The impact caused both vehicles to rollover several times before coming to rest in the roadway.

Mccue suffered serious injuries and was transported via helicopter to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y.

Grove was evaluated by E.M.S. on scene and refused further treatment or transport.

Grove was arrested and transported to Town of Cornwall Police Headquarters where he provided a breath sample with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.22%.

Grove was charged with vehicular assault in the first degree, a Class D felony; aggravated driving while intoxicated, a Class E felony; open container of alcoholic beverage in a vehicle; unlicensed operator; operating out of class; and following too closely.

Grove was arraigned at The Orange County Central Arraignment at Orange County Jail, where he was released on his own recognizance with a future court date.

The Town of Cornwall Police Department was assisted on scene by Cornwall/New Windsor E.M.S. and The Cornwall Fire Department.
