LEROY — A high-speed pursuit that reached over 120 mph ended with two arrests and the recovery of a stolen vehicle and firearm Tuesday afternoon.
Officer T.J. Mummery attempted to stop a Honda Accord for traffic violations when the driver fled instead of pulling over, according to the LeRoy Police Department.
The chase headed toward Livingston County before the suspect turned back toward LeRoy.
Mummery attempted intentional vehicle contact to stop the fleeing suspect, but the effort was unsuccessful and the pursuit continued.
The chase ended on Church Street when the suspect abandoned the vehicle and attempted to hide by breaking into a garage.
The male suspect was located and arrested with assistance from the Batavia Police Department, Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Batavia PD’s drone unit and Officer Stephen Quider with K9 Batu.
A female passenger who remained in the vehicle was also taken into custody at the scene.
Officers found the male suspect had a loaded, stolen handgun on his person during the arrest.
The vehicle was reported stolen out of Rochester and had swapped license plates to avoid detection.
The male suspect was arrested for nearly identical charges less than eight days ago, police said.
The female passenger is currently on probation for stealing a car.
