Batavia police report multiple arrests on burglary, larceny charges

BATAVIA — Batavia police arrested several individuals between June 11 and June 17 on a variety of charges including burglary, larceny, and harassment, according to department news releases.

On June 16, Gage R. Wetmore, 18, of Batavia, was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary, fourth-degree conspiracy, fourth-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal facilitation, and petit larceny.

Wetmore is accused of breaking into a residence on Hutchins Street and stealing property on January 12.

Wetmore was extradited from Georgia, arraigned in CAP Court, and released under the supervision of Genesee Justice.

He is due in court on July 9.

On the same day, Markis R. Gaines, 28, of Batavia, was arrested for third-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest.

Gaines is accused of entering the Salvation Army on East Main Street and stealing a laptop.

Police say Gaines fled when approached, but was taken into custody.

He was arraigned in Batavia City Court and remanded to Genesee County Jail.

Also on June 16, Patrick J. Gonzales, 31, of Batavia, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, endangering the welfare of a child, fourth-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and second-degree harassment.

Police allege Gonzales became involved in a physical altercation and took a phone from another person as they tried to call 911.

He was arraigned in CAP Court and released, with a return date set for July 9.

On June 17, Jennifer L. Stack, 39, of Batavia, was arrested on a bench warrant and arraigned in Batavia City Court before being remanded to Genesee County Jail.

She is scheduled to appear in court on July 10.

On June 17, Tia E. Schmieder, 33, of Batavia, was charged with trespass after she allegedly entered Tim Hortons on Main Street despite being told she was not permitted on the property.

She was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled for court on June 24.

On June 15, Dante T. St Louis, 29, of Rochester, was arrested for second-degree harassment.

St Louis allegedly struck another person during an altercation on Bank Street.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in court on July 8.

On June 12, Richard A. Miller, 39, of Batavia, was arrested in two separate incidents.

In the first, he was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny after allegedly using a counterfeit bill at Southside Deli.

In the second incident, Miller was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree harassment after allegedly refusing to leave a home on Ellicott Street and striking another individual.

He was released following arraignment and is due in court on June 26 for both cases.

Jesse J. Kessens, 19, of Batavia, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt on June 12 after allegedly contacting the protected party of an order of protection.

He was issued an appearance ticket for June 24.

Rebecca R. Fugate, 24, of Batavia, was charged with trespass on June 13 for allegedly refusing to leave ARC property on Woodrow Road.

She received an appearance ticket for June 24.

James R. Kosiorek, 32, of Basom, was arrested June 12 for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police say Kosiorek was found with crack cocaine during an investigation at Speedway.

He is due in court June 24.

On June 11, Samuel J. Hernandez, 22, of Batavia, was charged with petit larceny after allegedly stealing a cell phone.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court on July 1.
