HINGHAM — A 32-year-old Weymouth man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at another motorist during a road rage incident on June 19.
The incident occurred at 3:03 p.m. when a driver heading east on Lincoln Street noticed a motorcycle passing cars in the same direction, according to Hingham police.
When both vehicles stopped in traffic at the intersection of Shipyard Drive, the driver sounded his horn and the motorcyclist made hand gestures.
The driver moved his car forward and the motorcyclist took a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the driver’s windshield, police said.
The motorcyclist then put the gun back in a holster in his waistband and turned into the Hingham Shipyard.
The driver called 911 and nearby officers found a motorcycle parked at the rear of a business on Shipyard Drive.
Officers located the motorcycle owner inside the business, where he was an employee who had just arrived for work.
His motorcycle, description and clothing matched the driver’s description, police said.
Inside the business, in a bin where employees leave personal belongings, officers found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun registered to the motorcyclist.
Wallace Yuri Alcantara, 32, of 23 Adams Place, Weymouth, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, improper storage of a firearm and disorderly conduct.
Alcantara has a license to carry a firearm, police said.
He was released after posting $1,500 cash bail and is scheduled for arraignment at Hingham District Court on June 20.
