DANSVILLE — A 40-year-old Dansville man was arrested on felony charges following a traffic stop early Friday morning.
Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Franklin Street in the Village of Dansville at approximately 1:24 a.m. June 20 for a report of a vehicle possibly being operated by an intoxicated driver.
Deputy Gavin Duell located the vehicle on Franklin Street and conducted a traffic stop after observing violations of state vehicle and traffic law.
The deputy made contact with the operator, identified as Jamie Weirich, and suspected he was under the influence of alcohol.
Deputy Justin Zajicek from the Sheriff’s Office STOP DWI Unit responded to conduct a DWI investigation, which included standardized field sobriety tests.
Weirich was taken into custody for DWI at the conclusion of the roadside investigation.
Weirich refused to submit to a chemical breath test when offered a breathalyzer to determine his blood alcohol content.
During the investigation, deputies found that Weirich was operating the vehicle while having a revoked New York state driver’s license.
Weirich’s operating privilege was revoked due to a previous DWAI arrest in April.
Weirich was charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and violations of state vehicle and traffic law.
He was transported to the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Weirich was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of Caledonia Justice Riggi.
The judge released Weirich on his own recognizance as the offenses do not qualify for bail under the state Bail Reform Act.
