2 arrested in Utica drug bust on Whitesboro Street in Utica

UTICA — Two men were arrested June 10 after police found methamphetamine and suspected heroin during a traffic stop on the 1400 block of Whitesboro Street.

Members of the Special Investigations Unit and Crime Prevention Unit conducted the stop as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

A search of the individuals and vehicle yielded a large quantity of methamphetamine and suspected heroin, police said.

William Nichols, 53, of Utica, was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

Joseph Rios, 44, of Remsen, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree for methamphetamine.

Both men were transported to the Utica Police Department following their arrests.
