WAREHAM — A 37-year-old Mashpee man was arrested June 9 after allegedly recording a woman with his cell phone while she was changing in a Target fitting room.
Gregory Mattos was charged with photographing an unsuspecting nude person following the incident at the Target store located at 2421 Cranberry Highway.
Officers responded to the store after receiving reports of a male recording a female in the fitting room.
The victim told police the man held a cell phone over the fitting room stall door while she was changing.
Target loss prevention officers provided police with surveillance video showing the suspect leaving the store and exiting the parking lot on a moped.
Officers canvassed the area and located Mattos on Main Street, matching the description from the surveillance footage.
Mattos was taken into custody without incident.
Police said Mattos is a registered sex offender in Massachusetts and has been involved in similar incidents in the past.
Mattos was released on cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned June 10 at Wareham Fourth District Court.
