VICTORY MILLS — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 37-year-old man on felony charges following a domestic incident May 30.
Joseph K. Barton of Victory Mills was charged with strangulation in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree and menacing in the 2nd degree.
Deputies responded to the active domestic incident call at 10:58 p.m. on Gates Avenue in Victory Mills.
Barton is accused of applying pressure to the throat or neck of another person with intent to impede their normal breathing or blood circulation, causing physical injury to that person.
He is also accused of possessing a dangerous instrument after having previously been convicted of a crime, and of intentionally placing another person in fear of death or serious physical injury by displaying that dangerous instrument.
Barton was arraigned before Judge Charles Sherman in Saratoga Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further proceedings.
The strangulation and criminal possession of a weapon charges are class D felonies, while the menacing charge is a class A misdemeanor.
