POTTER — Two people were injured Saturday morning when a driver failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Friend Road and Italy Valley Road.
Irene Jamieson, 82, of Massena, was traveling eastbound on Italy Valley Road at 9:11 a.m. when she failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a vehicle driven by Peter Stewart, 66, of Branchport, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Stewart was traveling southbound on Friend Road and was uninjured in the crash.
Jamieson suffered head and neck injuries and was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight.
Kevin Duross, 49, of Massena, a passenger in Jamieson’s vehicle, sustained hand and back injuries and was transported by ambulance to FF Thompson Hospital.
Yates County deputies responded to the scene along with Potter Fire Department, Middlesex Ambulance and Penn Yan Ambulance.
The investigation is ongoing.
