POTTER — Two people were injured Saturday morning when a driver failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Friend Road and Italy Valley Road.
The crash occurred at 9:11 a.m. when Irene Jamieson, 82, of Massena was traveling eastbound on Italy Valley Road and failed to stop at the stop sign, striking a vehicle driven by Peter Stewart, 66, of Branchport, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Stewart was traveling southbound on Friend Road at the time of the collision.
Jamieson suffered head and neck injuries and was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital.
Kevin Duross, 49, of Massena, a passenger in Jamieson’s vehicle, sustained hand and back injuries and was transported by ambulance to FF Thompson Hospital.
Stewart was not injured in the accident.
Yates County deputies responded to the scene along with Middlesex Ambulance, Potter Fire Department, Penn Yan Ambulance and Mercy Flight.
The investigation is ongoing.
