CAZENOVIA — State Police conducted a Memorial Day Underage Drinking Initiative across Madison County on May 26.
As part of the operation, police checked multiple businesses for compliance with laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to persons under the age of 21.
The following locations were checked and found to be in compliance: Chittenango Discount Liquor & Wine in Chittenango; J.S. Hight Fine Wine and Spirits, Mac Kinnon Liquors, Kinney Drugs, TOPS Friendly Market, Walgreens Pharmacy, Red Apple, Mirabito, and Kwik Fill, all in Cazenovia; Speedway, Buell Fuels Country Store, and Byrne Dairy in Morrisville; and Stewarts and Price Chopper in Hamilton.
Police reported that Aldi in Cazenovia and Village Wine and Spirits in Hamilton were found not to be in compliance with underage alcohol sale laws.
As a result of the violation at Aldi, Carol A. Goal, age 70 of Cazenovia, was charged with unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree and prohibitive sale of alcohol to a person under twenty-one years old.
At Village Wine and Spirits, Jessie S. Gotham, age 31 of Hamilton, was charged with unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree and prohibitive sale of alcohol to a person under twenty-one years old.
