WEST SENECA — A motorcyclist died Sunday after colliding with another vehicle at the entrance to the Soccer Park on Seneca Street, according to West Seneca police.
The crash occurred April 27 when the motorcyclist, traveling at speeds exceeding 70 mph, ran a red light and struck a vehicle exiting the park, police said.
Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle and her juvenile passenger were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for several hours while accident investigators gathered evidence.
Police said physical evidence and eyewitness accounts confirmed the motorcyclist was at fault.
No charges have been filed.
In another incident the same day, a 35-year-old West Seneca woman was arrested for drunk driving after fleeing a traffic stop in the Heather Hill neighborhood.
Police reported the woman refused to provide identification, displayed signs of intoxication, and eventually sped away before crashing into roadside debris.
Officers took her into custody at gunpoint and charged her with DWI, resisting arrest, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, and obstructing governmental administration, along with multiple traffic infractions.
