SODUS — The Sodus Fire Department responded to two separate emergency calls Wednesday, beginning with a motorcycle accident on Hill Road.
Firefighters were dispatched at 12:19 p.m. to assist a motorcyclist who had gone down on Hill Road.
First responders found the patient lying in the roadway while the motorcycle had veered off into a roadside ditch.
County Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and transported the injured motorcyclist to a medical facility.
Fire personnel cleared the scene by 12:50 p.m., with units 19-1, 19-3, 19-4, 19-5, Rescue 1 and Engine 26 responding to the incident.
As firefighters were returning to the station, they received a second call at 12:53 p.m. regarding an electrical issue at 5651 Vanlare Road.
The caller reported a smoking meter box and flickering lights inside the residence.
Upon arrival, fire personnel identified the source of the smoke and contacted park maintenance while also requesting assistance from Rochester Gas & Electric (RGE).
Firefighters secured the area to ensure residents’ safety until utility crews arrived.
RGE personnel disconnected the secondary lines for the affected meter boxes.
The Sodus Fire Department cleared the scene at 3:08 p.m., with the same units responding to both incidents.
