Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Baldwinsville

BALDWINSVILLE — State Police responded to Lock Street in the Village of Baldwinsville for a reported car versus pedestrian crash at 5:28 p.m. May 19.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a vehicle driven by Richard L. Austin, 63, from Baldwinsville, was exiting the Dunkin parking lot and attempting to turn left onto Lock Street when he failed to yield the right of way and struck a pedestrian.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Upstate Hospital and on May 20, she succumbed to her injuries.

The victim has been identified as Deborah L. Irwin, 84, from Baldwinsville.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The cause of the collision currently remains under investigation by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
