Bath man arrested after threatening officer, wielding weapon

BATH — A 66-year-old Bath man was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening to assault and shoot a police officer responding to an unrelated complaint on West Washington Street.

Timothy W. Holiday was taken into custody following a standoff that lasted approximately 2 1/2 hours, according to the Village of Bath Police Department.

The incident began early Monday morning when a Bath police officer was confronted by Holiday while responding to a complaint.

Bath Police, Steuben County Sheriff’s Deputies, and New York State Troopers established a perimeter around the area.

When Holiday was finally apprehended, authorities say he attempted to assault a Sheriff’s Deputy with a large staff.

Holiday faces multiple charges including Menacing a Police Officer and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, both Class D felonies, as well as Menacing 2nd, a Class A Misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Steuben County Centralized Arraignment Court and remanded without bail due to several prior felony convictions.
