Boston man wanted in Brighton road rage assault

BOSTON — Police are seeking a Belmont man in connection with a violent road rage incident in Brighton last week.

Detectives from Boston Police Department’s District D-14 obtained a warrant Tuesday from Brighton District Court charging Andrew Oprian, 27, with assault with a dangerous weapon and willful and malicious destruction of property.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. Friday, May 16, when officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident near 1032 Commonwealth Avenue.

Boston Police Operations informed responding officers that a man armed with a hatchet was smashing the windows of the crashed vehicle.

Authorities are actively reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident and urge anyone with information to contact Boston Police D-14 Detectives at 617-343-4260.
