Utica man charged in skid steer theft from Genesee St. facility

UTICA — A 33-year-old Utica man faces felony charges after allegedly stealing a skid steer from a storage facility on Genesee Street.

Police responded to the 1700 block of Genesee Street on April 8 regarding the theft.

The victim reported that an unknown person had broken into the storage facility and removed the equipment.

The case was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, which discovered several social media posts showing the stolen skid steer listed for sale.

Investigators traced the original post and determined how that individual had acquired the equipment.

Police identified Mersad Dolic as the suspect who allegedly provided the skid steer to the person who posted it for sale.

Dolic was charged on May 13 with third-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny.
