ANNSVILLE — A Rome man was arrested on May 14 following a burglary investigation at a local wire manufacturing company, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
George J. Wishart Jr., 45, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony.
The investigation began on March 17, 2024, when deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Annsville at approximately 3:30 a.m. regarding suspicious activity.
Deputies discovered that two males and a female were seen loading multiple reels of copper clad steel wire onto a utility trailer attached to a red Ford F-150 pickup truck.
One reel of copper clad steel wire was left behind and secured by deputies.
Later that same day, at approximately 8:41 a.m., deputies responded to Kris-Tech Wire on Mill Pond Way in Annsville for a burglary complaint.
The investigation revealed that multiple reels of copper clad steel wire had been stolen from the facility, with suspects reportedly using a red pickup truck and utility trailer.
The case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit, resulting in Wishart’s arrest.
Wishart was processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, issued an appearance ticket, and released.
He is scheduled to appear in Annsville Town Court at a later date.
