WALTON — A two-car collision on State Highway 206 near Bear Spring Mountain sent four people to hospitals Thursday afternoon, with two requiring helicopter transport to trauma centers.
Walton Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:03 p.m., where they found two vehicles with heavy front-end damage.
One vehicle had been thrown over the guardrail and down an embankment, according to fire officials.
Two patients had self-extricated from the vehicles, while two others remained trapped, one heavily.
The first two patients were transported to Delaware Valley Hospital emergency room.
The other two patients were taken to the helipad at Delaware Valley Hospital for transport to trauma centers via LifeNet helicopters.
A third helicopter was called as a precaution for the patients initially taken to the emergency room.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Delhi EMS, Delaware County EMS, Hancock EMS, Trout Creek Fire Department, Downsville Fire Department, Walton Police Department, Delaware County Sheriff’s Office deputies and reconstruction team, Delaware County Emergency Services Deputy Coordinators, NYSDEP, State DOT, and LifeNet helicopters 71, 75 and 78.
Bear Spring Mountain remained closed Thursday evening as law enforcement conducted their investigation and vehicles were removed from the scene.
