ALBION — A woman seeking help at the Albion Police Department Saturday morning led to the arrest of a man following a standoff at his West Bank Street residence.
Police responded at approximately 9:54 a.m. on May 10 when a visibly distraught woman reported being physically assaulted by her boyfriend, identified as Brandon Armstrong.
Officers observed red marks on the victim’s neck and cuts on her hand, injuries she said resulted from being choked multiple times, physically restrained from leaving the residence, and threatened with a knife.
The victim told police Armstrong attempted to stab her, causing the lacerations to her hand.
Emergency medical services were called to evaluate and treat the victim at the scene.
Officers then responded to Armstrong’s residence, where he refused to exit for approximately 30 minutes.
The Albion Police Department K9 Unit was dispatched to assist after patrols were advised Armstrong was hiding in the attic.
Following another 30 minutes of negotiation, Armstrong surrendered without further incident.
Armstrong faces multiple charges including Robbery 3rd Degree and Assault 2nd Degree, both Class D felonies, as well as Criminal Possession of a Weapon with intent to use, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and Unlawful Imprisonment, all Class A misdemeanors.
