Armed robbery suspect apprehended after altercation at Weymouth mini market

WEYMOUTH — Police arrested a suspect following an armed robbery at a local mini market on Friday evening.

Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in progress at the Mini Market on 407 Middle St. at approximately 7:40 p.m.

The caller stated the suspect was armed with a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers found Gregory Masson, 47, of Weymouth, unresponsive outside the business with cash in his hand and a handgun near his waistband.

Officers secured Masson and provided medical aid until emergency personnel arrived. He was transported to South Shore Hospital.

Surveillance footage showed Masson entering the store, brandishing a firearm, and demanding cash from the register before attempting to flee.

A store employee confronted Masson, leading to a physical altercation before police arrived.

Two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.

Masson has been charged with armed robbery while masked.

Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The investigation remains active, with additional charges possible.
