FONDA — A Delmar woman has been arrested on manslaughter charges stemming from a fatal wrong-way crash that occurred on Interstate 90 in February.
State Police in Fonda arrested Veronica Armbruster, 59, on May 9 for second-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and numerous other vehicle and traffic law violations.
Investigators determined Armbruster allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.16% at the time of the crash that killed Cole M. Sevigny, 26, of Hudson, N.H., on Feb. 20.
Armbruster surrendered herself to State Police in Fonda where she was processed and arraigned at Amsterdam City Court.
She was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash, $100,000 bond or a $100,000 partially secured bond.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:44 p.m. when Armbruster was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-90 in Amsterdam and struck Sevigny’s vehicle head-on.
Both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles and were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries.
Sevigny was later pronounced dead at Saint Mary’s Hospital.
Armbruster was initially listed in critical but stable condition at Albany Medical Center following the crash.
The collision caused the closure of all westbound lanes of I-90 between exits 27 and 28 for approximately six hours while authorities investigated.
