WEST BRIDGEWATER — A Brockton man was arrested and charged with attempted murder following a stabbing at a Spring Street residence Thursday night, police said.
Mario Raul Babbs, 38, of Brockton, faces charges of attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.
West Bridgewater police responded to the residence around 11 p.m. Thursday after receiving two 911 calls reporting a man severely bleeding from the neck.
Officers found a 36-year-old East Bridgewater man with a towel around his neck attempting to control the bleeding.
The victim was transported by West Bridgewater Fire Department ambulance to Boston Medical Center – South in Brockton with injuries to his head and neck area.
Police investigation determined that an altercation occurred inside the home where several people known to one another had gathered.
According to police, Babbs forcibly entered a bedroom and stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Officer Richard Flaherty and K-9 Fedor tracked Babbs to a nearby wooded area where he was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was transported to Boston Medical Center – South while in custody before being brought to the West Bridgewater Police Department for booking.
Babbs is expected to be arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court.
