ALBANY — A 23-year-old Albany man has been charged in connection with a domestic related menacing incident that occurred early Thursday morning on Cortland Place.
Officers responded to a residence on Cortland Place near Spring Street around 2:20 a.m. for a person with a weapon call.
Upon arrival, officers learned that Christian McClay had been involved in a physical altercation with a female, during which he threatened her with a handgun before fleeing the residence.
The victim sustained injuries to her face and leg.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that McClay had been observed in a rear lot on Western Avenue before returning to his parked vehicle, which was located on the 200 block of Western Avenue.
On-duty Albany Police officers located McClay in his vehicle and took him into custody.
A search of the parking lot was conducted, and a loaded 9mm handgun was recovered.
McClay has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, one count of Menacing 2nd, one count of Assault 3rd, one count of Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, and one count of Criminal Mischief 4th.
He was arraigned Thursday morning in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
